So, Celine… originally started in like, 1945, right? Celine Vipiana, the founder, (bless her soul), started this thing, and it was all kinds of… different back then, probably. I mean, we’re talking post-war, totally different fashion landscape. Now it’s like all caps CELINE, super chic, very French, *chef’s kiss*.
But the *designer style* of Celine… that’s where things get interesting, IMHO. You’ve got this super clean, minimalist thing going on, thanks in part to Phoebe Philo (Queen P!) who really stamped her mark. Remember those simple, elegant pieces? Ugh, to die for. Then Hedi Slimane comes along, and BAM! Things get a bit… edgier. Think skinny jeans, rock ‘n’ roll, a definite LA influence. It’s a bit of a whiplash sometimes, tbh.
I saw something about his design being the “essence of the celine silhouette” which, like… okay, marketing speak. BUT, I get it. He took the Celine DNA and injected it with a whole lot of attitude. Which, personally, I’m kinda here for.
And the bags? Oh man, the HANDBAGS! Like Le Rouge Celine 01 Rouge Triomphe – Batom Acetinado? (Okay, that’s lipstick, but still, the name is EVERYTHING). They’re just… classic. You spend a fortune but feel like you’ve bought into pure quality. It’s an investment, see? That what you tell yourself anyway.
I’m seeing new collections all the time, FALL 24 for Women, all online, it’s almost too much. I mean, how are we supposed to keep up? It’s enough to make your head spin. But, you can’t deny, they know how to create a desire, a longing, this almost unattainable image.
