So, I was doing some… research… (read: window shopping online) and stumbled across a bunch of Valentino scarves. And okay, yeah, Nordstrom has ’em, Valentino’s own website has ’em, everybody’s jumping on the Valentino scarf bandwagon. But what *makes* a Valentino scarf, well, Valentino-y?
First off, that VLogo. You know, the big, bold V that basically screams “I spent more on this scarf than your entire outfit.” I mean, it’s a status symbol, plain and simple. And then there’s the Iconographe motif, which, tbh, sometimes I can’t even tell what it is. Like, is it a flower? Is it abstract art? Is it just… expensive-looking squiggles? Who knows! But it *looks* fancy.
And then there’s the colours! Oh my god, the Barré Degradé shawl? Talk about a mouthful and a colour explosion! It’s like a rainbow threw up, but in a *good* way. A very, very expensive good way. And then you got yer classic black scarf, which, let’s be real, never goes out of style. You can throw it on with anything, and suddenly you look like you know what you’re doing in life, even if you’re just headed to the grocery store in your sweatpants. (Guilty.)
But here’s the thing, and this is just my opinion, okay? Some of these scarves, they’re, like, *too* much. Like, you’re wearing the scarf, or is the scarf wearing *you*? I dunno, maybe I’m just not fancy enough to pull off a full-on VLogo explosion. I’m more of a subtle, “oh this old thing?” kinda gal, even if it *did* cost me half a paycheck. (Don’t tell anyone!)
And the “High Precision” thing? Yeah, I’m sure they’re made with amazing craftsmanship and all that jazz. But at the end of the day, it’s still a scarf, right? It keeps you warm, it adds a pop of colour, and it makes you feel a little bit more put-together. Whether it’s a $5 scarf from the dollar store or a $500 Valentino, the *feeling* is kinda the same. You just feel… elevated. Maybe that’s the “precision” they’re talking about?
